JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Compliance Officer is responsible for providing and coordinating direct patient care under the supervision of a Clinical Director. Responsibilities include improve office services by organizing office operations, continued maintenance of all charts for improved organization and communication, ensuring all clinicians are ordering medication refills in a timely fashion, and working collaboratively with the members of the team to help meet positive patient care outcomes.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an accredited practical nurse or vocational nursing program.
  • Three years nursing experience. Community health/hospice or medical/surgical

experience is preferred.

  • Currently licensed as an LPN/LVN in the State.
  • Complies with accepted professional standards and practice.
  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
  • Understands philosophy of hospice concept. Also understands needs of the terminally ill.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in the medical field preferred.
  2. Previous health care related experience preferred
  3. Computer proficiency

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains up to date the patient care documentation from the different hospice disciplines (i.e. RN, LVN, CHHA, Chaplain, MSW) in the current patient binder at the facilities.
  • Ensures that all doctors orders are current and updated in the patient binder at the facility.
  • Assist DON/Supervising RN with auditing charts for clinical oversight and compliance and adherence to the Medicare guidelines.
  • Assist DON/Supervising RN with managing clinical activities, including patient assessments, care plan development, service level determination, on-site field visits, and the implementation/coordination/maintenance/evaluation of care plans.
  • Assist DON/Supervising RN with directing supervision of clinical staff and managing the clinical staff assignment.
  • Coordinates PRN visits with available nurses, and makes visits as needed if nurses are not available.
  • Assist DON/Supervising RN with ensuring service quality and participates in care coordination to ensure proper communication between caregivers, patients, referral sources and payers. Discuss operational issues, update staff on new/changed regulations and review records/documentation to ensure regulatory and in-house compliance.


    • Assist DON/Supervising RN to have oversight of clinical integrity of appropriate documentation, quality of care provided, visits utilization, appropriate contacts with physicians, adherence to the care plan, and evidence of communication between disciplines.

    • Assist DON/Supervising RN with coordinating communication between team members/attending physicians/caregivers to ensure the appropriateness of care and outcome planning and ensures compliance through review of documentation and care coordination activities.
    • Participates in coordination of hospice services, appropriately reporting the identified needs to the interdisciplinary group. Examples include hospice aide, OT, PT, SW, ST, Dietician or Clinical Supervisor.
    • Participates in personal, professional growth and development. Also participates in organization’s quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.
    • Supervising the scheduler and intake coordinator in reviewing and reporting all supervisory visits and tracking future visits to ensure scheduler is tracking and reporting all recertification visits. Ensure scheduler is informing the RN, Nurse Practitioner, and MD of needed recertification and face to face visits.
    • Assisting scheduler in making necessary adjustments to all schedules. Assisting scheduler in reassigning and/or rescheduling employees to ensure frequency compliance. Assisting scheduler to assigning clinicians to patient to assure optimization of care.
    • Maintains office staff by helping in orientation and training of intake schedulers.
    • Heps in training of clinicians in EHR software.
    • Keeps Administrator and DO informed on all schedules and identifying trends (i.e. clinician workload).
