A clinical coordinator who is responsible for ensuring that all staff members providing mental health services have the qualifications required for their roles in the program and comply with all requirements relating to assessment, treatment planning, service delivery, and service documentation. The Day Treatment Psychologist is a clinical leader, mentor, and teacher as well as provider. The psychologist is responsible for clinical supervision of the Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) and participates with the LMHP in clinical leadership of the treatment provided at assigned day treatment sites. The psychologist may also provide clinical supervision to program staff. Clinical tasks include assessment of potential clients and assistance with appropriate intake processes (in cooperation with site LMHP and Program Director), guidance and support for treatment planning – including review and approval of all treatment plans, the continuous design of effective treatment strategies for individual clients, and both informal and formal education of staff regarding mental health issues and concepts. The psychologist will also complete mental status examinations, psychological evaluation of individual clients as necessary and/or appropriate, and review and approve additional documents as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Be a licensed mental health professional
  • Have at least 1,500 of clinical experience in a practice with youth who have mental illness or sever emotional disturbance
  • One year of training or work experience related directly to the assessment and treatment of children with mental health disorders
  • Have experience and demonstrated skill in the use of clinical practice theories and systems
  • Ability to use professional experience and well developed reasoning skills to make sound and ethical clinical judgments.
  • Have demonstrated skills in leadership and problem solving.
  • Ability to receive and implement feedback. Ability to learn and adapt.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team. Ability to be self-directed.Ability to generate and maintain a variety of documents

    Responsibilities:

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Clinical only, not administratively. Responsible for clinical supervision of LMHP specifically and additional mental health staff as necessary and/or appropriate. Works cooperatively with Licensed Mental Health Professional and Program Director regarding staff performance in areas of treatment planning, clinical skills, and case conceptualization. May assist Program Director with creation of performance evaluation or feedback to LMHP and program staff when necessary, but will not act independently regarding performance evaluation and/or performance plans or disciplinary measures.
    Requirements:

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Provide effective and direct clinical supervision and feedback to the Licensed Mental Health Professional(s) at each assigned site. Provide effective and direct clinical supervision and feedback to staff at each assigned site as appropriate.
    • In cooperation and conjunction with Program Director(s) and/or Clinical Systems Manager, assist in formal performance evaluation of LMHP
    • Work cooperatively with LMHP and PD to assess referrals and manage appropriate intake procedures at assigned sites.
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring in all aspects of treatment planning and treatment plan review at assigned sites.
    • Complete mental health status examinations and, as necessary and/or appropriate, psychological testing and/or evaluations with individual clients.
    • Review and approve all necessary treatment documents according to statutory guidelines, billing/funding source requirements, and agency standards.
    • In cooperation with LMHP, assess needs of program staff, both individually and as a team. Provide informal and formal education regarding mental health issues and treatment concepts as necessary and appropriate.
    • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with purchasers and community providers.
    • Assess and assist administrators with assessment of systemic and program-related evaluation for the purpose of program development and enhancements. When needed, complete various specially assigned projects related to system development as designated by administration, for example, the design of age and developmentally appropriate program content and the implementation of staff training and tools for use of such.
    • Complete psychological testing and evaluations as requested by the Licensed Mental Health Professional.
    • All schedule changes should be coordinated with the affected sites.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director
