Highly Specialist Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist (Band 8a / Band 7 Preceptorship)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Highly Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to provide psychological expertise within City and Hackney Crisis Pathway. We welcome applications from newly/early qualified psychologists, who could be appointed at band 7 under a preceptorship to work towards requirements for band 8a, subject to satisfactory completion of preceptorship process.
Previous experience working in adult crisis services and/or a considered appreciation of the role of psychology within these settings are highly desirable. The post holder will support work within City and Hackney Home Treatment Team and have involvement with the wider crisis pathway services. The post holder would be linked with teams across the crisis pathway to share psychological-informed care, and they will work alongside our Lead Counselling Psychologist to offer supervision and evidence-based assessments and interventions.
City and Hackney has a thriving Psychological Services Department across all areas of community and mental health, offering support and CPD opportunities across East London.
This role would be to support the lead psychologist to carry out work with service users and carers in crisis. You will be responsible for developing and delivering a psychology service within the Home Treatment Team.
This will involve providing specialist assessment, formulation and evidence-based intervention for service users under the care of the City and Hackney Crisis Pathway.
You will be involved in quality improvement, service development, evaluation and research.
You will develop and support the psychosocial work of other staff through teaching, training, supervision and consultation.
You will need to be self-motivated, clinically up to date with proven experience of undertaking assessments and interventions in secondary care settings.
