About This Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Exercise Physiologist to join us at Southern Queensland Rural Health (SQRH) as a Clinical Educator to make a real and positive difference to the education of our students and the future of rural healthcare in Queensland.
As a Clinical Educator in Exercise Physiology, you will support effective, high quality, rural training experiences for Exercise Physiology students This includes supporting the supervision of students during rural clinical placements, facilitating interprofessional learning opportunities during student placements, and enhancing support and education to both students and clinical supervisors.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing direct clinical supervision of students and delivering health care interventions in a student-assisted clinic model.
  • Organising, leading and collaborating interprofessional learning opportunities within a health care environment.
  • Developing educational materials with the incorporation of emerging information technology to enhance learning.
  • Applying well developed general clinical knowledge, skills and expertise to achieve optimal patient, student and project outcomes.
  • Working collaboratively and in partnership with all health-care professionals and academic staff during rural clinical placements to develop high quality learning opportunities for undergraduate health students.
  • Actively engaging in research which is aimed at contributing to an evidence-base within a rural health agenda.
  • Effectively and efficiently managing internal service roles and administrative processes as required, including participation in decision-making and service on relevant committees.
  • Actively pursuing and developing external links and partnerships by cultivating relationships with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position through to 13 June 2025.
At Academic level B, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,201 - $128,201 plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $126,595 - $149,996 annually.

About You

  • A relevant tertiary degree in Exercise Physiology and broad clinical experience as an Exercise Physiologist, with at least 3 years of recent practice experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in clinical education and supervision of undergraduate Exercise Physiology students.
  • Sound knowledge of interprofessional education, collaboration and practice or the willingness and ability to rapidly acquire, utilise and disseminate such knowledge.
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and work consultatively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with high levels of initiative and autonomy, along with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • A commitment to research activities and a willingness to participate in rural health research.
  • An ability to establish relationships and to represent and promote academic discipline at a university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies.

The following would be highly regarded:

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification in health or clinical education and/or the willingness to pursue an advanced professional qualification or Higher Degree by Research.
  • Experience in rural and/or Indigenous health issues, rural health education and training and a demonstrated commitment to improving rural and remote area health.
  • Experience in the higher education or health sectors.

  • Exercise and Sports Science Australia accreditation: It is a requirement of this position that the incumbent holds and maintains full accreditation with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
