Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 clinical educator for our dementia inpatient ward in the Older Adult Frailty division.
Langworth ward is an 18 bedded acute assessment ward for older adults experiencing mental health problems associated with dementia. The ward is challenging, fast paced and offers excellent opportunities for professional development. The ward is an integral part of the Dementia Care Pathway across the county.
The focus of our care is to provide assessment and treatment for our patients in a safe and compassionate environment. We are committed to delivering person centred care around the values of the 6 C’s and the Clinical educator role is pivotal to this. We have listened to our staff team from staff engagement sessions as well as staff survey and acknowledge that our NQN’s, IEN’s and students require individualised learning and development opportunities. We want to provide mechanisms to develop skills and knowledge for those working on our ward and to be delivered in a safe and supportive way, with the introduction of Clinical educator role who will be based on the ward we consider this as a forward thinking prospect for an experienced, knowledgeable person.
The post holder will be required to work 37.5 hours per week across 5 days (Monday-Friday) 9-5pm with the flexibility to amend working hours to ensure support is also available for staff working night shifts.
The post holder will be responsible for training, mentoring and to support newly appointed nursing staff from outside of the UK, or within the UK.
To enable safe and efficient onboarding and confidence into clinical roles in a timely manner.
To ensure they are familiar with and work to, LPFT policies, procedures, protocols and practices
To work within clinical areas where IENs (internationally educated nurses)/NQNs (newly qualified nurses), apprentices and students are based and to develop and deliver bespoke learning opportunities where applicable .
A full induction package will be offered, access to training, regular supervision, annual appraisal and a commitment to developing staff to their full potential.
