Description:

The appointed medical professional will engage in sub-specialty clinics focusing on glaucoma and medical retina, complemented by at least one theatre list per week. The workweek involves three and a half long days (8 am – 6 pm) for face-to-face direct clinical care (DCC), with Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) and DCC administration handled flexibly. A bespoke timetable tailored to the service needs and appointee’s interests will be established upon appointment.

Responsibilities:

KEY DUTIES:

Clinical Duties: The post involves active participation in sub-specialty clinics and theatre sessions, contributing significantly to patient care in glaucoma and medical retina.
On-Call Responsibilities: The appointee will join a 1:8 on-call rota in collaboration with the Royal Surrey County Hospital, ensuring comprehensive patient care.
Support and Liaison: Providing support to junior trainees and maintaining close collaboration with nursing staff and consultants is crucial for this role.
Educational Involvement: The post holder will participate in educational half-days, teaching sessions, research, audits, and departmental meetings. There are opportunities for study leave to attend regional or national conferences and meetings.
Administrative Support: Secretarial support will be provided, with personal computers available in consulting rooms for internet access and administrative tasks.

Develop a bespoke timetable aligned with the service needs and personal interests upon appointment.

ON-CALL DUTIES:

Participate in a 1:8 on-call rota shared with the Royal Surrey County Hospital, ensuring round-the-clock patient care and emergency response.

DUTIES OF THE POST

The timetable will include sub-specialty clinics in glaucoma and medical retina with at least one theatre list per week. F2F DCC is worked over three and a half long days (8am – 6pm) with SPA and DCC administration undertaken flexibly. Bespoke timetable to be agreed on appointment according to the needs of the service and interests of the appointee.
The post holder will support the junior trainees and liaise closely with the nursing staff and consultants.
The post holder will be expected to participate in the 1:8 on-call rota shared with the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
Active participation in educational half-days, teaching sessions, research, audit and departmental meetings will be expected.
The post holder will also be able to apply for study leave to attend meetings and conferences outside the region.
The appointee will have secretarial support. All consulting rooms have a personal computer with access to the internet.
St. Peter’s Hospital has a modern post-graduate centre and both sites have full library services. The Trust is committed to supporting CPD.
