Description:
Under the supervision of Consultant staff, the post holder will contribute to and gain experience in the prevention, diagnosis and management of patients with infection. The post holder will participate fully in the clinical aspects of the laboratory process, validating the results produced by the laboratory and providing clinical advice to clinical colleagues with respect to Microbiology results and management with patients with infections. This will include but is not limited to; Advise on appropriate investigations. Advise on and apply the principles of antibiotic therapy.
Monitor the response to therapy. Contribute to the reporting of and management of infections with a Public Health implications. A daily Ward Round will be undertaken in the ITU; visits to other specialist units and patients are conducted as required and in addition there are weekly MDTs with multiple specialities
