Description:

The post holder provides support and assistance to aid the running of both assessment and symptomatic breast clinics in Thirlestaine Breast Centre.
There are 2 posts, both for 28 hours per week.

POST 2:

Monday 8:00-5:00
Tuesday 8:00-3:00
Thursday 8:30-5:00
Friday 8:30-13:30
To work as part of the Breast Imaging team assisting in the delivery of high quality services under the supervision of qualified staff.
You will assist the imaging team in the undertaking of both symptomatic and screening clinics.
We provide all breast outpatient services for those requiring diagnosis or treatment in the county of Gloucestershire and we deliver the Gloucestershire Breast Screening Programme with a screening population of over 100,000 women. In this role you will work alongside our experienced breast care and breast imaging teams, participating in both screening and symptomatic clinics.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Aptitude Required

Key Result Areas

Service Delivery

  • To escort patients to and from x-ray rooms, ultrasound examination rooms and where necessary, to assist with dressing and undressing
  • Assess and evaluate needs of individual clients to accommodate their clinical needs, for example overcoming language barriers and disabilities, referring any clients outside of the scope of practice to the supervising radiographer.
  • Laying up of sterile trolleys in a timely manner for interventional procedures and decanting correctly following procedures.
  • Assist as required with patients undergoing interventional procedures in accordance with instructions and training received.
  • Report to the Radiologist, Breast Clinician or Radiographer if patients are unwell.
  • To ensure that the ultrasound equipment is prepared and cleaned to a standard appropriate for the examination of clients.
  • To carry out deep clean once per week of stereo and ultrasound equipment.
  • Provide an excellent standard of care to all patients and clients at all times.
  • To answer the telephone and deal with enquiries taking action, or seeking advice and assistance from more senior staff as and when required.
  • To be self-directed and able to work efficiently and organize own workload.

Administration and Clerical

  • Enter correct client/patient attendance data on the NBSS/CRIS systems for clients/patients attending for examination.
  • Update client/patient records and follow up on information given in accordance with scope of practice.
  • Assist departmental office staff with clerical duties as required.
  • Maintain client and patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with NHSBSP PIAG Section 60 policies.
