Waitemata Clinical Campus is part of the School of Medicine, located at North Shore Hospital and Waitakere Hospital. It provides clinical education to cohorts of medical students, mainly in Years 4, 5 and 6 of the six-year medical course. The School of Medicine also runs a 7-week course for Year 3 medical students to give them a first introduction to life on hospital wards, and to how to take and report a clinical history and examination. This course is known as the Clinical Methods Course.
Job Description

TE WHIWHINGA MAHI | THE OPPORTUNITY

The Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences are seeking two highly motivated and experienced individuals to join our team as Clinical Methods Course Patient Identifier (Nurse) on a part-time basis. You will approach patients and assess their willingness and suitability to take part in bedside teaching with Tutors and Year 3 medical students, liaise with ward nursing and medical staff to establish a short list of potential patients, and where appropriate, examine patients to establish clinical signs.
These are part time, fixed term roles, starting 13th August finishing 10th October (break 26th August-10th September).
Hours are different for each site, 0.4FTE – North Shore Hospital, 0.2FTE Waitakere Hospital, both working across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The salary range for this role is Band F, between $68,600- $84,700 pro rata (Full time equivalent of 40 hours per week), based on skills and experience.

Qualifications

We are looking for a culturally competent individual who can plan and prioritise tasks, develop positive relationships with patients, students, and staff, and effectively and calmy respond to crisis situations.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • You must be a Registered Nurse within New Zealand with a current Practising Certificate.
  • You must have a minimum of 2 years nursing experience
  • You must have a current validated CPR and/or Advanced Life Support certification.
  • Proven clinical experience with adults and diverse communities.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary health setting is advantageous.
