What’s involved - The Clinical Midwifery Consultant / Midwifery Educator (CMC/ME) works in the Longreach Hospital and across the Central West Hospital and Health Service to support the Midwifery Group Practice and outlying midwives in the provision of clinical midwifery care across the health service.
The CMC/ME is an advanced midwifery practitioner who is recognised as a resource person and has expertise in contemporary midwifery services to provide education, support and direction to Midwives, Registered and Enrolled Nurses and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers.
The role provides contemporary evidence based clinical leadership and midwifery education that supports the philosophy of continuity of care across the continuum of pregnancy. The CMC/ME will oversee the distribution of caseload allocations across the Longreach Midwifery Group Practice to ensure a fair and equitable workload for all staff which takes into consideration risk and skill level.
The CMC/ME is directly responsible for supporting and mentoring midwifery graduates and students while providing direct clinical support and shared case loading for women with complex needs to ensure optimal maternal and neonatal outcomes within our service.
This position reports to the Assistant Director of Nursing - Child, Youth and Family Health Services in the provision of evidence based clinical practice, leadership, innovation, excellence, education and direction to Midwifery, Allied Health and Nursing staff. Utilises data and information to ensure that the service promotes safety and quality and measures and monitors the standard of service delivery.
