Description:

Eligible Health Workers who move to Queensland from interstate and international jurisdictions to take up permanent employment may receive up to $20,000 in incentive payments under the Queensland Health Attraction Incentive Scheme

Employment Term

  • 1 x Fixed Term Temporary full-time, up to 12 months, with a possibility of an additional 12 months
  • 1 x Fixed Term Temporary part-time, up to 09/06/2024, with a possibility of an extension - not exceeding 12 months(64 hours per fortnight).

  • Salary rates between $4138.10 - $4431.10 p.f. (full-time) / $54.44-$58.30 p.h. (part-time) (NG6-1)

Role requirements

  • Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Highly Desirable:
  • A graduate certificate or greater within a named infection control course is highly desirable. Where the successful applicant does not currently hold this qualification, commitment to completion of post graduate study would be encouraged.
  • Credentialed status (or willingness to undertake and complete the requirements) with the Australian College for Infection Prevention and Control within 12 months.
  • Immunisation qualification recognized in Queensland will be well regarded.
  • On call: Appointees are required to participate in an on-call roster.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • Travel: Please note, from time-to-time this position will be required to travel to, and work at, other facilities located within the Rural Hospitals Service Group network to participate in meetings for planning, quality, performance, training and education, or clinical activities. This may involve day and/or overnight stays. Travel on small planes or ferry may be required. The successful applicant/s will need to be able to commit to this requirement.
  • Aged Care Pre-Employment Screening: Applicants are advised this position works in an identified Aged Care Facility as per the Aged Care Act 1997 and therefore requires employees and volunteers to have a current National Police Certificate. Queensland Health will facilitate applicants obtaining the above National Police Certificate.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

  • Evidence of working knowledge of contemporary infection prevention and control issues.
  • Advanced clinical and problem-solving skills.
  • A proven ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, including verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • A proven ability to contribute to quality initiatives, clinical audits, and research.
  • A proven ability to identify education needs and develop education for patients and health care workers.
  • Use Excel spreadsheets to record and query data.
