Description:
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced nurse to join the Royal Marsden Hospital Pain Management Team as Band 7 Pain Clinical Nurse Specialist. This will be across both sites (one in Chelsea, London, and one in Sutton, Surrey).
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will work as a core member of the multi-disciplinary team using your clinical expertise to co-ordinate high quality care and treatment of patients requiring pain services. This will include supporting both for in-patients and for outpatient clinic across both sites.
The role will include provision of formal and informal education and participation in audit and research projects. The successful applicants will be required to work across both sites .

The Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pain Management plays a crucial role in enhancing the delivery of pain management services across the Trust, operating within both inpatient and outpatient pain service settings. Their responsibilities include assessing and managing acute, persistent, and complex pain among inpatients, as well as providing support to specialised pain clinics such as those addressing chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, neuromodulation, and capsaicin services.
In their capacity as the Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pain, they will facilitate the provision of an efficient, safe, and effective pain management service across both sites.

To sustain a high-quality specialist service for the patient, from diagnosis through all stages of the disease and actively provide optimum liaison and continuity of care.
In collaboration with the existing Clinical Nurse Specialists, to formulate and/or revise relevant policies and to regularly review these following change/implementations.
To work within the procedures and policies of the Trust.
In conjunction with the existing Clinical Nurse Specialists, to develop assessment tools that will ensure an appropriate level of nursing intervention so that patients with complex needs are referred to the appropriate specialist/s.
To lead clinical care by providing expert assessment, planning, evaluation and support skills in all aspects of pain management.
To provide medical and surgical teams with individualised pain management plans for both acute and complex pain referrals. These plans are to encompass guidance on suitable drug administration, inclusive of dosages, as well as information on non-pharmacological management techniques
