Clinical Nurse Specialist - Macmillan Metastatic Breast

To practice autonomously, applying specialist expertise and knowledge of breast metastatic cancer in providing patient-centred care during cancer patient journey (investigations, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, palliative care) To be wholly accountable for own clinical practice; continually strive to expand professional expertise, knowledge and evidence-based practice by availing self of educational opportunities (seminars, conferences, tertiary courses); actively participate in professional organisations To actively participate as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team; attend MDT meetings and weekly ward rounds To ensure that specialist counselling and health promotion are integrated into programmes of care and liaison is facilitated within MDT To act as advocate for patients and respect diverse cultural backgrounds and needs To offer a supportive service including signposting for counselling to patients and their family/friends or carers through their cancer patient journey in conjunction with other healthcare professionals, empowering patients to make informed choices and decisions. To maintain Nurse-led clinics whereby the problems and needs of the patients and their family/friends and carers are appropriately channelle
