Description:

The post holder is responsible for supporting the delivery of clinical audit activity throughout the organisation. This includes high priority audits identified from the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme (NCAPOP).
As a member of the Clinical Outcomes team the post holder will support a number of multi-professional groups with national and local audit projects. The post holder will support the team with assurance, learning and improvement activities that underpin the Trust’s approach to delivering the highest quality of care at all times.
The Manager will set work and review, but the post holder should use their initiative within their sphere of competence. The individual will have an aptitude for quality and service improvement. The post holder will be able to prioritise their workload and conflicting tasks on a day to day basis and be able to work unsupervised. The post holder will take a supportive role in the development and delivery of the clinical audit process, working closely with clinicians and managers to develop tools and systems to enable measurement against standards and where indicated, identify improvement plans to ensure a high quality service provision.
Effective communication is a key requirement of this role, as well as having the ability to use initiative to prioritise and work to deadlines that are underpinned by National targets. There is a requirement for attention to detail and accuracy. The individual will have effective communication and excellent organisational skills, with a working knowledge of Word, Excel and Power-point.

Support participation in the national audit programme including:
Identification of patient sample and group utilising electronic and paper based systems
Data collection by accessing clinical information from a range of manual and electronic records and transcribing this in to a range of databases / data collection tools
Undertake accurate and timely data entry and analysis of data
Participation in meetings to review national audit data and engaging with clinical staff
Provide support to other members of the clinical audit team with other clerical and administrative duties as appropriate, such as, printing, photocopying and organising meetings
Participate in learning and quality improvement activities as required
To support the Clinical Effectiveness Facilitator to ensure we meet the Trust’s key Clinical Outcome aims and objectives
May have contact with patients as part of clinical audit projects
Undertake Information and Data processing /analysis as follows:
Data input of clinical information into a range of systems (including national audit websites) in line with national targets ensuring accuracy of data inputted. This includes the ICNARC database.
Development of a range of pro-forma and electronic data collection tools and then utilising these to undertake audit projects
Liaison with clinicians (both internal and external to the organisation) to discuss and resolve data entry queries
Data entry review as required in line with meeting national targets including validation of data entered by others
Participate in the organisation and planning of local and national clinical audits
Undertake quarterly extraction of information in line with national reporting timescales to meet Best Practice Tariff (BPT)
Produce detailed reports from information collected as required and disseminate as required
Liaison with internal and external departments e.g. Business Intelligence and Coding department
Organise case note retrieval storage, return and archiving during loan - from various locations as required by audit projects as required
