Description:
Working within a team of clinical photographers in the Medical Illustration department, assisting in the provision of ophthalmic imaging and photography service, to the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
This post is fixed term/secondment until 31/01/2025 to meet the needs of the service.

Working within a team of clinical photographers in the Medical Illustration, assist in the provision of a specialist ophthalmic imaging and photography service to departments of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Operational
To undertake digital scanning of patients’ retinas using Ocular Coherence Tomography to agreed protocols under the direction of a senior clinical photographer and in liaison with clinical teams.
Assist the clinical photographers in Medical Illustration by independently carrying out specific image management techniques under the direction of a senior clinical photographer.
To capture routine full fundus and optic disc photographs using a digital fundus camera against standard protocols.
To work as part of a multidisciplinary team in the ophthalmic imaging and photography sections.
Communication
To communicate effectively with patients and carers continuously during procedure to ensure patient wellbeing and compliance, often overcoming barriers to understanding and using tact and persuasion where required.
To provide and receive complex and/or sensitive information.
To liaise with healthcare professionals across a range of levels within the Health Board including clinicians.
To be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Administration
To check the quality of data entry in image and information management systems and report issues to the senior clinical photographer.
To maintain work records and contribute to the auditing of these records.
Undertake day to day management of stock levels.
Ensure the cost effective use of all UHB resources.
Supervision and Training
Demonstrates own duties and activities to new starters, students and visitors to the Department, in own work area
