Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 Clinical Psychologist with an interest in physical health. Th i s is a full time role, split between working in the community and in an inpatient setting . The post-holder will work across two sights, Gospel Oak Health Centre and St Pancras Hospital. Both sites are based within Camden, a large and diverse borough. When working in the community, the post-holder will be carrying out home visits, within patients own homes or other community settings, including care homes. This job would be suitable for a C linical P sychologist with an interest in having a varied role, working as part of a team to provide high quality patient centred interventions.
The caseload is comprised of adults who have been referred for rehabilitation and may present with multiple complex health needs. The post-holder will be working alongside P hysiotherapists, O ccupational T herapists , Speech and Language Therapists, N urses and other medical staff, carrying out therapeutic interventions for patients presenting with psychological barriers to progress in rehabilitation, including low mood, anxiety and difficulties with adjustment to diagnosis. There will be additional opportunities for consultation to the team , service development and teaching , particularly to non-psychology colleagues . The post-holder will attend multi-disciplinary meetings to discuss and feedback patient care, contribute to family meetings and discharge planning. The post-holder will be provided with the opportunity to develop clinical and leadership skills through the support of senior colleagues, and will be part of a wider team of psychologists working in rehabilitation within Camden , who meet regularly for peer support and with an emphasis on continuing professional development .

The post-holder will formulate and devise psychological treatment and management plans for referred clients and provide psychological treatment , using a range of specialist psychological interventions, appropriate to the client’s presenting problem. They will utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence-based practice in individual work and work with other team members. They will provide psychological advice and psycho-education to both clients and their carers, including those clients with cognitive and behavioural difficulties. The post-holder may undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management. They will be required to communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients.
The role involves working alongside other disciplines, providing specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals and other services to assist in the formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan of clients. The post-holder will undertake responsibilities as a member of the multi-professional rehabilitation team, including attending team meetings and liaising with other health and social care professionals.
The post-holder will receive regular clinical professional supervision from a senior clinical psychologist, as well as regular peer support with other psychologists within Camden. They may be expected to provide professional and clinical supervision of trainee psychologists and assistant psychologists. The post-holder will also provide advice, consultation, training and supervision, where appropriate, to other health and social care staff working with the client group. The post-holder will facilitate and assist in the management of service development and provision and may be involved in including complex audit and service evaluation, with colleagues within the service to help develop and evaluate service provision.
The role involves contributing to the development and articulation of best practice in psychology within the service area, by exercising the skills of a reflexive and reflective scientist practitioner, taking part in regular professional supervision and appraisal and maintaining an active engagement with current developments in the field of clinical psychology and related disciplines. The post-holder will be expected to maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues of relevance to the service, client group and mental health and to maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping
