Description:

An opportunity has arisen to join the Hillingdon Psychological Therapies Service .
We are looking for enthusiastic qualified Clinical Psychologists with experience across the range of work within the Adult Mental Health Specialty. We have two posts, one based in the community the other split between the community and the acute wards.
We have an interest in psychoanalytic thinking which will be of interest to those who want to deepen their understanding of the factors underlying the complex presentations we see.
You will benefit from weekly participation in our clinical meeting for all psychological therapy staff, in both step 2 and step 3 provision.
You may be interested in supervision of MHWPs and APs who form the back bone of our step 2 psychosocial interventions.
You should demonstrate an interest in providing a high level of service for service users and carers, excellent multidisciplinary team working skills and good knowledge of working with diverse populations within one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in London.
You should have experience of setting up and running groups and believe groups to be a rich therapeutic experience for our often socially isolated clients.
You will be an active member of the CMHH, including the Complex Emotional Needs pathway.
The Psychological Therapy service is well regarded and respected and has a strong voice in the wider mental health service in Hillingdon.
The post holder will have strong team working skills and the ability to provide consultation advice on clients’ psychological care to other team members and carers. They will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including psychiatry, psychotherapy, psychology, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, employment specialists and peer support workers.
You will be expected to see new cases regularly, and have an opportunity to discuss these assessment consultations with your supervisor and in our weekly clinical meeting.
The post holders will join a team providing highly specialised psychological assessments and treatment for the clients of the Psychological Therapies Service.
The successful applicants will join the well-established and respected Hillingdon Psychological Therapies Service and receive regular supervision from one of our three experienced CMHH Consultant Clinical Psychologists.
These are excellent posts for those starting out on their careers as clinicians in the NHS. You will be supported in the development of your identity as independent professional psychologists.
The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.
The Psychological Therapies Service offers a range of evidence based approaches and a wide programme of group , individual , family and couples interventions. In particular we believe that as full a range of therapeutic approaches as possible should be available, following on from a careful assessment. We use psychoanalytic thinking to inform our assessment and formulations, and meet weekly as a group to inform our work.
There are great opportunities to consolidate your identity as a clinical / counselling psychologist /psychotherapist, and deepen and widen your skills, to gain further experience of and receive high level training in CBT, EMDR, systemic family and couples therapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, CAT, MBT and DBT and CFT.
We encourage our staff to develop a specialist interest. This can be in any of the approaches practiced in the department, or an approach we don’t currently have available. If you are interested in seeing long term psychotherapy cases this is supported in the service by attendance at a weekly psychoanalytic psychotherapy supervision group.
As our referrals all come through the CMHHs they tend to be complex and present with risks of self -harm, so it is important that you enjoy this kind of challenge.
Please see the attached job description and person spec for more detail.
We have two posts available, one wholly in the CMHH and one split between the CMHH and the acute wards, supervised by Dr Paul Osler.
We are pleased to discuss possible part time working with the right candidates
