Description:

The Community Based Neurological Rehabilitation Team (CBNRT) are excited to be recruiting into a fixed term post available for 12 months as cover for maternity leave cover, 11.25 hours per week
We are seeking a Band 8a Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Neuropsychologist who is a registered practitioner with the HCPC.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual who is passionate about Neuro-rehabilitation. They will provide specialist therapy to adults with a variety of neurological conditions in their own homes within West Berkshire, primarily in the Wokingham Borough.
The Community Based Neuro Rehabilitation Team provides rehabilitation at home for adults age 18 and upwards, with a variety of neurological conditions referred from both acute and community partners as well as rehabilitation under the Earlier Support Discharge (ESD) service for Stroke patients.
The team is well established and has been providing goal centred specialist rehabilitation for over 15 years. The team comprises Administrators and Neuro specialist Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants. We are incredibly proud of the multi and interdisciplinary approach of the team who working cohesively on patient’s goals with the aim of providing the highest quality rehabilitation for our patients.
You will provide specialist neuropsychological and psychological assessments of clients with acquired neurological conditions, utilising information from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests.
Formulating and implementing plans of specialist psychological treatment of a client’s cognitive, emotional and/or behavioural problems directly or indirectly resulting from their neurological condition
To provide specialist psychological advice and guidance to other members of the team and wider professionals. This includes assistance and advice on issues related to clients’ mental capacity and consent to treatment, rehabilitation, managing financial affairs etc.
To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide general advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management.
Utilise excellent communication skills to understand patient’s needs and work cohesively with other members of the MDT. When appropriate, to act as care coordinator, ensuring the rehabilitation programme is appropriate for the clients needs and abilities, coordinating the work of other disciplines regarding the psychological management of the client.

Responsibilities:

Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, with HCPC registration.
Experience of and interest in working with clients with neurological conditions.
Excellent communication skills both orally and written and ability to work cohesively with patients, carers and an MDT.
Car driver with access to a vehicle to travel to patients’ homes across Berkshire
