ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
An exciting opportunity to join an innovative specialist service for children and young people living in Out of Home Care across NSW.
The Elver Program is a joint collaboration between SWSLHD and the Department of Communities and Justice and is an innovative dynamic specialist mental health service for children and young people living in Out of Home Care across NSW. The service is based in the DCJ ISS office at Parramatta.
We are looking for a passionate Clinical Psychologist to join our dynamic team. The successful applicant will demonstrate capacity to work collaboratively to provide specialist clinical assessments and individual or group based interventions to both the child/young person, carers and the care system around them. Successful applicants will also have skills in systemic care coordination, consultation and training.
The position works as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) and in partnership with DCJ.
Opportunity for professional learning, development and supervision are provided. Some travel will be required.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
The Clinical Psychologist recruited by the SWSLHD will be seconded to Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) to provide clinical services for the ELVER program which is a new innovative outreach multi-disciplinary trauma treatment program for children and young people in Out Of Home Care (OOHC). The program is based in Parramatta and forms part of DCJ state-wide services Intensive Support Services (ISS). The service catchment area includes metropolitan Sydney with provision for outreach to rural and remote areas of NSW. The program focus is to assist children and young people with complex histories of trauma and attachment disruption through provision of trauma informed care from assessment and clinical formulation through to individual specialist clinical interventions. The program will take referrals from DCJ and Non-Government agency case managers with an initial focus on children in residential care/ Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) with complex presentations requiring specialist intervention.
All clinical positions in the Elver Program are employed by SWSLHD and seconded to Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ). This service will utilise evidenced based Trauma Informed and Recovery focused principals for high risk children and young people residing in out of home care.
The Clinical Psychologist Elver program will apply extensive specialist clinical knowledge and skills in carrying out individual or group based interventions working as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) and in partnership Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) in coordinating care for children, young people parents or carers referred to the OOHC/WFT’s Work to ensure integrated service delivery with both government and non-government services that form part of the child’s carer/support network.
