CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST - BASIC GRADE

The Clinical Psychologist’s primary scope of responsibility will be to Hampstead Clinic Services and Highfield Hospital, as part of a comprehensive multidisciplinary team, which works across Mental Health services within Highfield Healthcare in Dublin 9, Co. Dublin.
The role of the Clinical Psychologist is indispensable to the effective treatment of all patients and residents admitted to Hampstead Clinic Services (Acute Adult in-patient and Day Hospital), Highfield Hospital (Psychiatry of Later Life) and our Specialist Rehabilitation Unit.
The post holder reports to the Senior Clinical Psychologist on operational matters and in respect of clinical governance arrangements within the organisation. Clinical supervision will also be provided by the Senior Clinical Psychologist.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA - QUALIFICATIONS AND/ OR EXPERIENCE

Candidates must posses a Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Psychology accredited by Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills including: the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner; the ability to facilitate and manage groups through the learning process; the ability to give constructive feedback to encourage learning

PLANNING & ORGANISATION SKILLS

  • Demonstrate evidence of effective planning and organising skills including awareness of resource management and importance of value for money
  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritise tasks and responsibilities to meet service objectives
  • Demonstrate ability to manage deadlines and effectively handle multiple tasks
  • Demonstrate excellent time management and organisation skills

SKILLS:

Responsibilities:

  1. Consultation to psychiatric and medical providers about modalities of psychological treatment on a case-by-case basis. This would include, among others modalities:
  • Provision of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention
  • Communication of psychological concepts and findings to patient and families
  • Cognitive behavioural therapy
  • Solution Focused Brief Therapy
  • Supportive psychotherapy
  • Special techniques of group therapy within the psychologist’s area of expertise
  1. Facilitate one outpatient service half day per week
  2. Keep up to date with mandatory training and professional development requirement
  3. Adhere to relevant Health & Safety policies, procedures and related regulatory requirements.
  4. Maintain appropriate patient and residents’ records in accordance with Highfield Healthcare’s requirements, Mental Health Commission and Data Protection Acts.
