Description:

Capital Area Pediatrics offers accessible, comprehensive pediatric care to families at five practice locations throughout Northern Virginia. For both sickness and health, generations of families have chosen Capital Area Pediatrics to provide outstanding care and an exceptional patient experience. We are currently hiring a Clinical Quality, Process Improvement, and Training Specialist to join our team. Capital Area Pediatrics is a NCQA Certified Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH), as such as hold ourselves to the highest standard to best serve our patients.
This role has a mix of administrative responsibilities and clinical training responsibilities that directly involve patient care. As training is vital to all that we do, the Specialist will be expected to provide support to our locations in Ashburn, Herndon, Vienna, and Falls Church (two locations). There will be times they are asked to work from our business office, located in Oakton. The Specialist is a liaison for clinical quality and policy adherence, provides instruction and coaching on foundational clinical skills, training new and established staff in quality expectations and ongoing initiatives, and team development of new and current training materials.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and document within medical charts accurately.
  • Comprehensive understanding of vaccines and the necessary vaccine schedule.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to learn and retain new computer skills to support business needs
  • Fundamental knowledge of HIPPA compliance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take direction and complete tasks as assigned.
  • Demonstrate initiative and a problem-solving mentality.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate deductive reasoning skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and pivot in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extensive periods of time.
  • Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to provide nursing care and operating equipment.
  • Ability to stoop, squat, or bend frequently.
  • Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients and professional staff.
  • Exposure to patient elements including communicable disease and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Ability to work from any required practice location (Ashburn, Oakton, Vienna, Falls Church, Herndon).

REQUIREMENTS

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
  • License and/or certification must be active and valid in the State of Virginia.
  • At least two (2) years of direct patient care as a Registered Nurse or Medical Assistant, pediatric experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience facilitating clinical skills training.
  • Developing clinical training materials, and/or implementing clinical training programs is strongly preferred.
  • Quality improvement experience preferred.
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience required - Athena strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and train staff to adequately provide daily care for the patients we serve.
  • Function in a clinical capacity as a Registered Nurse or Medical Assistant.
  • Educate staff in the clinical policies criteria and procedures.
  • Collaboratively work on clinical staff training resources for use in new staff onboarding and ongoing clinical quality improvement.
  • Provide individual and group training directly in new staff onboarding and during clinical quality improvement.
  • Participate in team-development of quality improvement plans.
  • Participate in professional development such as training courses and shadowing.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Operations to develop goals and measure progress.
  • Become an Athena EHR superuser and trainer.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team workgroups to achieve practice quality improvement goals.
  • Support non-clinical staff in responding to patient needs that require clinical input.
  • Develop an understanding of internal, local, regional, and national compliance needs.
  • Serve as a clinical resource across multiple teams, and provide feedback, guidance, and direction to peers, leaders, and ancillary staff to improve clinical performance, compliance and patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain competencies through continuous learning and providing patient care.
  • The Specialist will be required to work in a clinical capacity, aligned to their credentials, in order to become enmeshed in our workflows and clinical practices.
