EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

In order to meet the Basic Requirements for a Clinical Research Informatics Specialist, GS-0601, you must possess a Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree in a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences, or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

In addition to meeting the Basic Qualifications, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: providing leadership and direction for the development of biomedical informatics to support clinical research programs; managing projects to develop clinical informatics for precision medicine research; coordinating and collaborating with other scientists or organizations on the development of clinical informatics solutions; and providing technical advice on the scientific and programmatic management of clinical research informatics aspects.
You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.

Responsibilities:

DUTIES

  • Provide leadership and direction for the development of biomedical informatics to support clinical research programs.
  • Manage projects to develop clinical informatics for precision medicine research; coordinate and collaborate with other scientists or organizations on the development of clinical informatics solutions.
  • Lead and participate in study concept development and applies expert knowledge of rapidly evolving biomedical, cancer clinical trials, cancer biology and medical informatics research.
  • Assure that security plans protect patient confidentiality and corporate proprietary information and that disaster recovery plans assure minimal loss of information and system downtime in the most cost effective manner.
  • Provide supervision, direction, and technical oversight for staff in providing informatics support and expertise for NCI-sponsored precision medicine clinical trials.
