Job overview
Clinical Immunology at Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge seek an experienced HCPC registered Clinical Scientist. Applications from suitably experienced Biomedical scientists will be considered, with the expectation to complete equivalence within the first year in post.
This full-time, substantive post is in our busy and progressive ISO 15189 accredited Immunology laboratory. We provide an extensive specialist repertoire alongside a routine autoimmune serology, allergy and myeloma service to local, regional and international centres.
Together with our Senior Clinical Scientist, the successful candidate will assist in provision of clinical and scientific support to the Immunology Laboratory, with particular focus on result interpretation and clinical advice. They will also contribute to our various staff educational programmes, Quality management initiatives and the research and development of new analytical methods.
Theoretical and practical knowledge of all aspects of current Immunological assays and techniques is essential. The candidate will also have significant experience in diagnostic Immunology laboratory practice and troubleshooting faults.
An understanding and proven success in implementation of new techniques, statistical evaluation of analytical methods, and associated change management processes would be beneficial.
Main duties of the job
To assist the Senior Clinical Scientist in the provision of clinical and scientific support to the Immunology Laboratory run by CUH.
To interact and liaise with a wide range of multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
Analyse, interpret, report and authorise Immunology test results
Deliver and maintain a high-quality diagnostic service
Provide advice to clinicians and colleagues
Support training and recruitment across the department and demonstrate continual personal development
Ensure the continuous improvement and development of laboratory services
Ensure the continued compliance of the laboratory using the quality management system
