Description:

We are a 5 bedded Critical Care Unit caring for a variety of different specialities - reconstructive plastic surgery, reconstructive head & neck cancer surgery and maxillofacial trauma and major burn patients requiring HDU / ITU level of care.
The post-holder will act as an expert clinical resource and co-ordinate nursing education and training within the Critical care Unit in conjunction with the clinical educator. The post holder will ensure that the standard of education and training provided is conducive to the requirements of the service and in line with the Trust’s strategy and values.
The post holder will have significant experience in Critical Care and hold an accredited Intensive care qualification. Show professional, leadership, enthusiastic, caring and approachable attributes in supporting the team. Promote the delivery of Critical Care, using the latest research and evidenced based decision making while managing critically ill patients.

AS CLINICAL SKILLS FACILITATOR AND ASSESSOR YOU WILL BE :

Work with new staff and Allied Health Professionals (AHP) in the clinical setting, ensuring appropriate skill development, whilst also providing support to the senior clinical nursing team.
Support practice based learning at the bedside, facilitating development of the clinical skills required to provide safe care to critically ill patients and will assist with the delivery of the Health Education England approved Critical Care Education.
To assist in the induction of all nursing staff into Critical Care and develop individual learning plans.
Act as a role model for staff.
Assist with and deliver training within Critical Care which includes Simulation.
Support Allied Health Professionals to actively contribute to our and their continuing development, which is often hands on and through Simulation training.

The post holder will be an experienced Practitioner in Critical Care Nursing, supporting development of the clinical skills of the Critical Care Nursing workforce as well as providing specialist nursing advice within Critical Care Unit (CCU).
They will support practice based learning at the bedside, facilitating development of the clinical skills required to provide safe care to critically ill patients and will assist with the delivery of the Health Education England (HEE) approved Critical Care Education programme by supporting Registered CCU Nurses to fulfil the clinical requirements of the Step 1, 2 and 3 Critical Care programme.
