Description:
This exciting post is to work within the small Paediatric team as part of the Bladder and Bowel Service, dedicated to offering specialist advice, support and treatment to children and their families. The post is based in Wokingham Hospital and you will be able to travel to other locations across Berkshire.
We deliver holistic support in the community to maximise a child or young person’s independence and quality of life with bladder and bowel dysfunction. The Paediatric team supports patients up to their 19th birthday across Berkshire.
The post holder will use both local and national guidance to provide timely specialist assessment and treatment of children/young people with complex bladder and bowel problems in a variety of settings including clinic, schools and in the community. The postholder will have continuing responsibility for independently managing a caseload including those with complex needs.
The post holder will provide bladder and bowel education and training and act as a resource on matters related to Paediatric Bladder and Bowel problems. The team is highly committed to the service, providing training and sharing knowledge when needed to ensure that team members are well supported.
Independently manage a caseload of patients with complex, chronic and progressive bladder and bowel problems
Provide specialist bladder and bowel clinics and domiciliary visits as required.
Making autonomous decisions regarding the management of patients with bladder and bowel problems, including advising on changes to treatment and prescribing equipment and medication as appropriate, and liaising with the patients GP as indicated
Deliver specialist Paediatric Bladder and Bowel education within the trust.
Act as a resource for colleagues, the public, and others on matters relating to Paediatric Bladder and Bowel dysfunction.
Maintain clear, concise records in line with Trust Policy.
Promote good bladder and bowel health in all aspects of work, ensuring a positive and dynamic approach towards individuals

Responsibilities:
Be able to develop a good relationship with the child/young person, using age appropriate language to build a trusting relationship with them.
Must be flexible in the role to ensure that the bladder and bowel needs of the child/young person are met with skilled nursing intervention.
Have knowledge of or willing to learn in-depth an understanding of continence products and prescription requirements.
Be part of the facilitation of training of patients, carers, professionals, and students in the area of bladder and bowel promotion.
