Description:
To act as an autonomous practitioner providing expert assessment in the field of Paediatric Neuro-Disability Occupational Therapy (e.g. Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy).
- To use highly specialised, advanced clinical reasoning skills to contribute to differential diagnosis.
- To deliver advanced treatment techniques and advice to patients (and their carers) with highly complex paediatric neurological presentations.
- To work closely as part of the Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team and wider multidisciplinary team with all hospital based and community colleagues in order to maintain continuity of service.
- To independently manage own daily complex caseload as part of a multidisciplinary team, triaging paediatric patients, ensuring that patients are seen by the most appropriate healthcare professional.
- To be responsible for the effective treatment and management of Service users with a primary or suspected Paediatric Neuro-Disability requiring assessment, care planning and rehabilitation in Children Centre and community settings in order to facilitate appropriate pathway management and maximise their independence and functional ability.
- To develop the upper limb service for children with neuro-disabilities (including splinting service) taking the lead for pathway/process developments.
- To take a lead role in the post-graduate education of Occupational Therapy colleagues and other professions.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
