About the role:
We are seeking to appoint 1.4fte part-time (minimum one day a week, maximum four days a week) clinical teachers within Paediatric Dentistry.
These posts would be ideally suited to an experienced or a specialist dental practitioner with an interest in the education of dental students.
A major aspect of the posts is to provide clinical teaching and support for the training of BDS undergraduates.
Clinical teachers will also be expected to deliver seminars, develop teaching materials, and assess students and provide feedback on their performance. Support and developmental opportunities will be provided where needed.
This is a part time post and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Full GDC other relevant body registration with valid license to practice
- BDS or equivalent registerable primary dental qualification
- Ability to supervise undergraduate students and enthusiastic approach to teaching
- Significant demonstrable post qualification work experience, in particular of treating child patients
- Good communication skills
- Regular attendance, good time keeping and willingness to be flexible around working hours
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Willingness to participate in clinical audit projects
Desirable criteria
- Registrable qualification in Paediatric Dentistry (e.g. Diploma, Master’s or GDC-registered Specialist)
- FDS, MFDS, MJDF or equivalent
- Certificate in teaching
