We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Trials Assistant to join our well established, friendly Pharmacy team based at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital.
This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Clinical Trials Team and learn under the guidance and supervision of the Clinical Trials Technician and Clinical Trials Pharmacist.
You will be responsible for supporting administrative functions of Clinical Trials within the department.
You will work in a changing NHS environment where good communication and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks are essential.
You must possess the ability to pay attention to detail and be computer literate.
You will be expected to complete Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training and remain up to date with it.

Applicants should possess GCSEs in Maths and English (minimum grade C or level 4) GCSE requirement is essential.
To assist the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team with receiving delivery of Clinical Trial medication, dispensing Clinical Trial prescriptions, documenting returned Clinical Trial medication and administrative tasks related to Clinical Trials according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

To accurately label and dispense Clinical Trial prescriptions and to issue and supply stock required for Clinical Trials.
To receive, check and store items delivered to Pharmacy Clinical Trials.
To maintain an accurate record of accountability logs when receiving Clinical Trial medication, dispensing Clinical Trial prescriptions and counting returned Clinical Trial medications, ensuring a clear audit trail is maintained.
To perform general housekeeping activities related to Clinical Trials including checking fridge and ambient temperatures, expiry dates of medications and ensuring there is enough medication in stock.
To make decisions based on relevant information to solve problems or refer promptly to the senior pharmacy technician or pharmacist.
To answer phone, email or face to face enquiries from members of the pharmacy department, research department or trial sponsor representatives in a timely manner.
To identify any problems or discrepancies in any Clinical Trial medication and refer them to the senior pharmacy technician or pharmacist.
To photocopy, file and email documentation relating to Clinical Trials documentation when required, and to help maintain Clinical Trial study files.
To contact Sponsors to retrieve or provide information relating to Clinical Trials and make relevant records.
To participate in the organisation of research activity including attending site selection visits, initiation and monitoring visits when required.
Assist in the closing of trials and the archiving of trial information.
To support the delivery of Clinical Trials training to the pharmacy department.
To communicate effectively with other members of the pharmacy team, to ensure a high quality of service is achieved.
To adhere to all departmental policies, procedures and SOPs.
To participate in relevant departmental meetings
To achieve objectives agreed during the annual Personal Development Review.
To remain up to date with Trust mandatory training.
To remain up to date with Good Clinical Practice training.
To undertake additional training where appropriate to develop knowledge and skills relevant to the post.
To be able to organise and prioritise own day to day workload, with support from Clinical Trials technician and pharmacist.
To contribute to the quality improvement of the pharmacy Clinical Trial service, by contributing towards audits.
To help maintain Pharmacy Clinical Trial databases.
To produce consistently reliable and accurate work in a timely manner, utilising prioritisation skills
