Clinical Trials Fellow in Infectious Diseases CT1 / F2+
The appointment is to commence in August 2024 for a fixed term period of 12 months. A motivation to gain additional experience in the field of Infectious Diseases is desirable. As this post is not recognised as a ‘training post’, full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to CT1 / F2+ level.

Responsibilities:

CLINICAL RESEARCH DUTIES

The post holder will primarily be responsible for helping to identify and enrol eligible in-patients, outpatients and healthy volunteers to a portfolio of clinical trials in infection. These include (but are not limited to) a number of ongoing interventional and observational COVID-19 (The RECOVERY trial, SARS CoV-2 vaccine trials), Influenza (REMAPCAP-influenza), community acquired pneumonia (ASPECT, PNEUMO), S. aureus bacteraemia (SNAP), human challenge studies (VASP) and other vaccine trials (EMBRACE). The post holder will be expected to undergo training and certification in Good Clinical Practice (unless already certified) as well individual study specific training. The post holder will work closely with the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) nursing team, local principal investigators for each study and the clinical teams in the department.
The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the wider communicable diseases clinical research portfolio within the academic directorate of communicable diseases and specialised medicine as study intensity allows. This work includes studies in sexual health, HIV, viral hepatitis and antimicrobial stewardship.

CLINICAL DUTIES

This post does not involve clinical service work. However, the post holder will be welcome to take on out of hours locum shifts in the unit at the CT1/F2+ level as available and according to local rates.
