Responsibilities:

The Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) ‘Enabling Infrastructure for Rural, Regional and Remote Clinical Trials’ initiative is supporting ‘The Australian Teletrial Program (ATP) in regional areas and includes the establishment of a Clinical Trials Research Support Service (CTRSS) at South West Healthcare (SWH). The Clinical Trials Project Officer will support the CTRSS Project Coordinator to enable access to clinical trials closer to home for patients. The role assists in collaborating with clinicians and other stakeholders to enable start-up of clinical trials in all disciplines in the region. This includes planning and development of administrative and logistical resources, start-up coordination, developing clinical trial expertise through training and ensuring clinical trial readiness.
The Project Officer will work on interrelated areas of activity, including advising staff, communications, organisational facilitation of clinical trials and research, process support for trials, training requirements for staff and assisting with the start-up processes. This role will focus on supporting the Project Coordinator with the development and establishment of resources, communications and processes to provide a solid foundation on which to build clinical trial capacity. Facilitation of appropriate education and training will also be a focus over this time.
The role includes undertaking a wide range of activities related to the set-up and running of clinical trials and site administration. Assisting with the delivery of direct and indirect clinical trial related care of patients, working under the supervision of the Research Nurses, where necessary and will suit candidates with nursing qualifications and experience. The position applies understanding of research governance processes in effectively administering clinical trials, ensuring procedures and practices comply with relevant legislation, policy and procedures including the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework (NCTGF) and National Standards. This role requires a high level of organisation and the ability to multitask as it requires working on multiple projects at differing stages of completion.
This position is fixed term at 0.8FTE (64 hrs a fortnight) until October 2026.
