JOB SUMMARY

Nua Healthcare Services (Nua) is one of Ireland’s leading Private Healthcare Providers, specialising in Residential and Supported Living Services, to both Children and Adults with a range of complex support needs.
We are currently seeking applicants with a specialism in Forensic Psychiatry who are interested in joining Nua Healthcare’s Psychiatry Team. At Nua Healthcare, we believe that having the highest quality of care is an absolute right of every individual we support.

Nua Healthcare’s multidisciplinary team has a broad range of clinical professionals and therapists such as Clinical Directors, Consultant Psychiatrists, Nurses from a psychiatric, intellectual disability and general trained background, Nurse Prescribers, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Behaviour Specialists, Dietitians, Psychotherapists, amongst many others who support our care pathways across Ireland.

JOB OBJECTIVES

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Director (with specialism in Forensic Psychiatry) to join our team at Nua Healthcare and take a lead role in providing high quality, biopsychosocial informed care for a cohort of patients with mental disorder who reside in our community based residences (will be regulated by the MHC) and hold a small caseload of patients with an intellectual disability/dual diagnosis who reside in our intellectual disability centres (regulated by HIQA).
This will include the following on a day-to-day basis:

Main Duties

  • Work closely with the Clinical Director(s) of the Approved Centres, the Clinical Director of ID and MH Services and all Consultant Psychiatrists on the National MDT.
  • Oversee and implement measures to meet regulatory standards and compliance with the Mental Health Commission for the registration of community based mental health residences.
  • Provide cover for Clinical Directors & Consultant colleagues’ periods of leave as necessary and in line with prospective cover arrangements as per the contract.

QUALIFICATION:

  • Full Registration (general and specialist) with the Irish Medical Council.
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of standards and legislation relevant to the area.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Leadership and Senior management experience within a large organisation in either the public or private sector.
  • Experienced in producing high quality documentation and reports preferably at Board Level.
  • Experience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings (preferably both ID and Forensic settings)

SKILLS:

  • Excellent clinical skills using biopsychosocial perspective and extensive medical knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to take a leadership role in various multidisciplinary team(s), ensuring high quality care.
  • Ability to manage own time, workload and prioritise clinical work.
  • Ability to appraise own performance as a Senior Leader and Consultant.

Responsibilities:

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Taking clinical responsibility for patients who are residing in Nua’s community based mental health residences.
  • Taking clinical responsibility for patients who are residing in Nua’s intellectual disability centres.
  • Offering a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation, and treatment of individuals with complex needs and forensic risks across both ID and MH services.
  • Contributing to clinical governance for the services provided at both Approved Centres when covering annual leave and contribute to the development of service strategy as required.
