Description:

Overview:
Fountain Tire is looking for an experienced Cloud and SaaS Database Administrator to join our Information Systems team in our South Edmonton Corporate Head Office. This is an in-person term position for a duration of six months.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • SQL Server 2012+ and Azure SQL Solutions.
  • Must have sound knowledge of T-SQL, DMV’s, PowerShell, HA/DR solutions.
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in the written form.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • University degree or a college diploma in Computer Science
  • Experience with Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations would be considered an asset
  • Experience in a leadership role would be considered an asset.
  • Somone with Azure Database Administrator Associate certification would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain databases in cloud environments and SaaS applications.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems (DBMS) in cloud environments.
  • Design and implement logical and physical data models based on application requirements.
  • Implement security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss in case of hardware failure, human error, or other disasters.
  • Optimize queries, indexes, and other database elements to ensure fast response times and efficient use of system resources.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks such as database reorganization, updating statistics, and purging obsolete data to maintain optimal performance.
  • Implement high availability solutions such as database replication, clustering, or sharing to ensure continuous access to data.
  • Develop and test disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime in case of a system failure.
  • Ensure that the database systems comply with industry regulations and standards. Perform regular audits to validate compliance and address any issues that arise.
  • Monitor database usage trends and plan for future capacity needs. Scale the database infrastructure as necessary to accommodate growing data volumes and user loads.
  • Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other IT professionals to troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and ensure seamless integration of the database systems with other applications and services.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation related to database configurations, schemas, security policies, and procedures.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in database management and cloud computing. Continuously enhance skills and certifications to adapt to changing industry standards.
  • Ability to be on-call for DBA support
  • Ability to work overtime on an infrequent basis, as required
