QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• South African citizens/residents are preferred.
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience in data analysis or a similar role with a focus on cloud environments.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

• Cloud Services and Databases: Proficiency with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and their database services (Azure SQL Database, Amazon RDS, Amazon Redshift) and APIs.
• Data Analysis and Visualization Tools: Strong skills in data visualization and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) for creating insightful dashboards and reports.
• Programming and Data Science: Knowledge of programming languages (Python, R) and related libraries (Pandas, NumPy) for data analysis.
• ETL and Data Pipeline Tools: Experience with ETL processes and tools (Apache Airflow, AWS Glue) for data extraction, transformation, and loading.

ADVANTAGEOUS TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Big Data Technologies: Experience with big data frameworks and querying tools (Apache Spark, Apache Hive) for handling large-scale data processing.
• DevOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Understanding of DevOps practices and IaC tools (Jenkins, Terraform) for efficient cloud resource management and deployment.
• Scripting and Automation: Ability to write automation scripts (Bash, PowerShell) to streamline database operations and maintenance tasks.
• Collaboration and Version Control: Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and project management tools (JIRA, Confluence) to enhance team collaboration and workflow organization.

ROLE:

• We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Cloud Database Analyst to join our Hub South Africa at Group.
• You will play a critical role in researching and analyzing the cloud footprint of our databases hosted on Azure and AWS platforms.
• This position requires a deep understanding of database technologies, cloud services, and data analysis to provide valuable insights that will help optimize our database operations and offer new insights and services for our internal database consumers.
• Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of the Groups database usage across public cloud platforms, primarily Azure and AWS.
• Collect and interpret data related to database technologies, configurations, and performance to create a detailed footprint of our cloud databases.
• Evaluate and report on the cost implications of database usage in the cloud, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Analyze security parameters and compliance of databases in the cloud, ensuring that all data is protected according to industry standards and Groups internal policies.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver tailored reports that provide actionable insights on database technologies and usage.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in cloud database management and operations.
• Provide insights into database optimization, scalability, and management based on thorough data analysis and expertise.
