CURRENT NEED:

McKesson is seeking a talented and motivated CloudFinOps Analyst to be part of the Cloud team and accelerate our efforts to drive trust, agility, and adoption among McKesson business teams. As a FinOps Analyst, will work with wide range of stakeholders to promote a culture of cost accountability and awareness for cloud consumption.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

In this role, you will analyze and collect data to provide financial insights. This role will provide financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting, consumption analysis including KPIs, showback, analytics and capacity. You will work with wide range of stakeholders to promote a culture of cost accountability and awareness for cloud consumption.

  • Financial Analysis: Conducting in-depth analysis of financial data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement. This may involve analyzing financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Cost Optimization: Identifying and implementing strategies to optimize costs and improve financial efficiency. This may involve analyzing expenditure patterns, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and making recommendations for cost reduction initiatives.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assisting in the development of budgets and forecasts by providing financial analysis, insights, and recommendations. This may involve analyzing historical data, market trends, and business objectives to develop accurate financial projections.
  • Financial Reporting: Preparing regular financial reports, presentations, and dashboards to provide insights and updates to management and stakeholders. This may involve analyzing financial data, creating visualizations, and communicating key findings and recommendations.
  • Process Improvement: Identifying areas for process improvement within financial operations and implementing effective solutions. This may involve streamlining financial processes, implementing automation tools, and enhancing reporting capabilities.
  • Vendor Management: Evaluate cloud service providers, pricing models, and discount options to maximize cost-effectiveness. Negotiate contracts, discounts, and volume commitments with cloud vendors. Maintain relationships with cloud vendors and stay informed about pricing changes and new offerings.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in cloud financial management. Drive continuous improvement in FinOps practices and processes within the organization. Actively participate in knowledge sharing, training, and mentorship to build FinOps capabilities across teams.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards related to cloud spending. Implement controls and governance mechanisms to prevent unauthorized spending and optimize resource utilization. Collaborate with security and compliance teams to address any cloud-related audit findings or compliance issues.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborating with various departments, such as finance, operations, and IT, to gather data, understand business requirements, and support financial decision-making.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Typically requires 4+ years of professional experience.

CRITICAL SKILLS

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in Cloud FinOps/Cloud Spend optimization.
  • Knowledge of the core Finance principles and basic understanding of the corporate accounting process (forecast, invoicing, showback, accruals…etc.)
  • Ability to properly structure, model and visualize cloud platform data to support decision making.
  • Do deep dives to further dissect issues or identify opportunities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and deliver presentations to leaders.
  • Aptitude to learn and understanding new concepts and technologies to become an expert in the field.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate successfully in a lean, agile, and fast-paced organization.
  • Possess a current FinOps certification, or ability to attain within 12 months.
  • Basic knowledge of public cloud players (e.g., at minimum, Azure), their product portfolio and commercial models.

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Agile methodology experience and working experience in a scrum team are preferred.

EDUCATION

4-year degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or an alternate combination of education and experience with results in the equivalent job knowledge and skills.
