Description:

StackTeck supplies a wide range of injection molds and IML automation used to produce plastic parts in applications such as caps, closures, medical, PET preforms, and thinwall packaging; as well as complete system integrations including IML.
SUMMARY: The position of CNC High Speed Milling Machinist will accurately set up and operate a high precision, multi-axis mill machining center to fabricate metallic components based on drawing specifications, and tight finishing tolerances. This position reports to the Manufacturing Manager, Finishing Department.
Shift times: Monday to Thursday 4:00 pm to 2:30 am
Shift times: Friday to Sunday 3:30 pm to 4:00 am

TECHNICAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • College Diploma or Certified Apprenticeship program in General Machining, Tool & Die or Mould Maker preferred or Mechanical Technician Diploma
  • Minimum 5+ years of recent experience operating a High Speed Finishing Mill to extremely tight tolerances
  • Experience operating Roder milling machines a strong asset.
  • Proven knowledge interpreting engineering drawings and use of hand measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc)
  • Ability to work in a high precision, fast paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Setting up and operate a CNC Precision Mill
  • Interprets drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and sequence of specific machining operations
  • Load and edit control media to optimize and/or correct machine performance
  • Calculates and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control elements.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunction and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Through the use of precision measurement tools to verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications with tolerances as low as +/- .001 to +/- .0002.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on equipment
  • The proper maintenance of the machine and housekeeping of their work area.
