The Operations Manager supports the Distribution Center Manager in maintaining efficient warehousing, distribution and packaging operations in accordance with company and customer requirements. This position involves a high level of customer interaction and is accountable for driving profitability and productivity while maintaining high quality standards. The operations manager is responsible for safe and efficient operations of manufacturing and support services in a 24/7 production environment in accordance with company and customer requirements. Will follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and report noncompliance when observed. In addition, the candidate will observe all company safety rules and assist in enforcement as appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field a plus; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Five years’ experience as a manager in a distribution/warehouse environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required and proficiency with MS Office.
  • Must have good knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory statutes governing warehouse operations.
  • Must be able to travel to other facilities for support/training.
  • Ability to work in a varied, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the operation’s needs.
  • Strong oral and written skill set.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Accomplishes department objectives by managing staff; planning and evaluating departmentactivities.
  • Accountable for ensuring training is completed and records are maintained for a variety of needs including OSHA, customer, and other audits.
  • Manages key operational requirements within the budget and according to customers’ requirements.
  • Understands inputs for P&L and customer contract to assist manager in preparing operating budgets and to manage workforce planning.
  • Ability to create and maintain a strong working relationship with customers and respond timely and appropriately within verbal and written communications.
  • Facilitates the maintenance of facility and operational equipment, including preventative maintenance.
  • Assists in door checks, alarm security, housekeeping, upkeep of exterior grounds, riser pressure logs, warehouse temperature, snow removal, and facility security including

guardhouse and key/code authorizations.

  • Prepares various quantitative reports as needed.
  • Oversight and direct handling of performance reviews, complaints and associate concerns, productivitymanagement, quality of work and counseling.
  • Develops work plans ensuring appropriate staffing levels - managing labor costs, overtime and retention
  • Accountable for ensuring routine trailer inspections, load/unload scheduling, inspections and yard checks are completed.
  • Supports the coordination of floor space and work flow schemes.
  • Implements and oversees cross training for associates as needed to maximize associate effectiveness.
  • Assists in coordinating OS&D claims.
  • Reviews KPIs and makes recommendations for efficiency improvements to both processes and associate performance.
  • Follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and correct noncompliance when observed.
