We have an exciting opportunity for a Coastal Engineer in any of our Great Lakes offices throughout WI and IL. Our coastal team works on coastal and waterfront projects throughout the Midwest, Florida, and the Caribbean. This position is ideal for an established coastal engineer with a drive to support existing coastal business and grow the Midwest footprint. Career level and salary will be commensurate with experience, and all experience levels coastal engineers are encouraged to apply.

WE ARE CONSIDERING COASTAL ENGINEER CANDIDATES WHO MEET THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with formal or on the job coastal training.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience completing design calculations for waterfront engineering projects such as seawall design, beach nourishment, coastal structures, environmental restoration, drainage and flood control and coastal impact assessments.
  • Professional registration as a PE.
  • Strong engineering technical skills.
  • Design experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D considered a plus.
  • Candidates with an interest in business development and project development processes, such as marketing activities, conference participation, client development, and proposal development, are encouraged to apply.
  • Good communication skills and a proven track record interacting with clients and internal team members is necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the coastal experts across GRAEF offices in project oversight, including setting priorities and developing objectives, and project financial management as well as the ability to serve as a technical resource for a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Job duties include project engineering and management, client management, making presentations and client development activities.
  • Prepare contracts and technical documents.
  • Conduct field work including inspection and observations.
  • Professional society involvement and attendance at professional conferences and summits.
