JOB SUMMARY:

The role of the Coastal/Waterfront Engineer is to perform general project engineering duties to include computer-aided design and drafting, regulatory applications and coordination, preparation of contract documents, engineering computations and budget estimates, and inspection and administration of construction for Civil Engineering projects.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or a related field required.

WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years’ experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D preferred.
  • Experience with construction materials, procedures, and documents.
  • Basic knowledge of Civil Engineering principles.
  • Ability to read basic Civil Engineering and Architectural drawings.
  • Ability to accurately measure and calculate items such as grade, area, and volume.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of engineering principles and practices with a focus on coastal/waterfront processes, structures, and erosion control.
  • Ability to analyze coastal processes, design, and implement coastal protection measures, and conduct studies to assess the impact of coastal projects.
  • Engineering design support for marina and waterfront projects
  • Prepare cost estimates, project schedules, engineering reports and other technical documents.
  • Conduct site visits and fieldwork as needed.
