Description:
DESCRIPTION
The City of Liberty is adding a Full-Time Code Enforcement Officer to our team. In this new position, you will work with our Planning & Community Development team to influence and enhance services to our citizens, confirming the City of Liberty was the correct choice for their place to grow, play and live.
As a Code Enforcement Officer, you will perform field inspections of properties to ensure compliance with applicable nuisance and miscellaneous ordinance violations as reported; you will enforce code violations; and perform various related technical duties.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Pertinent laws that affect assigned division and department.

- Respond to requests and inquiries from customers/citizens in a professional, positive, friendly and helpful manner.

- Perform field inspections of properties to ensure compliance with zoning codes and ordinances.
- Perform research and data collection activities.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/LICENSING
- Minimum of two years of experience as a code enforcement officer for a municipal jurisdiction required, or two years of other job-related experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent required, with college-level coursework preferred.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
Starting salary will be based upon experience, but no less than $48,591.50/year.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to inquiries and concerns on nuisance and code enforcement activities for the general public.
- Respond to complaints related to violations of City codes and ordinances; conduct inspections; issue notices of violations; make follow up inspections as necessary; work with violators to identify viable solutions.
- Proactive inspections of residential, commercial businesses and vacant lots when able; ensure compliance with applicable nuisance, temporary signage, and ordinances and regulations; perform follow-up inspections as necessary; issue notices of violations as necessary.
- Maintain detailed records and reports of inspections and enforcement activities; enter and retrieve data on code enforcement activities; process and acquire data relative to inspections and effective code enforcement.
- Enforce seasonal activities such as weed enforcement, extra sign removal and send notifications when needed.
- Assist in driving business impact to positively affect community growth, change, and citizen satisfaction with their municipal team and services.
- Provide assistance with court procedures. Prepare necessary documents, exhibits, and photos for court cases related to code enforcement; testify in court.
- Serve as a resource to other city departments regarding nuisance and code requirements.
