Job Description:
Position: Emergency Coding Specialist
Dept: Health Information Management- Information Services

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Be part of a fantastic virtual team that contributes to the success of the hospital through the Health System Funding Reform
  • Share Trillium Health Partners values of compassion, excellence and courage
  • Code patient records in accordance with CIHI, MoHLTC, CCO and internal requirements
  • Code according to ICD10CA and CCI standards
  • Abstract all required patient information using the WinRecs abstract
  • Achieve and maintain expected quality standards
  • Accountable for the accuracy of coded information, performing regular quality checks on, and making corrections to the abstracted information
  • Consistently achieving the production quota on a monthly basis
  • Participate in departmental committees (in person if required)
  • Attend monthly coding meetings (in person if required)
  • Maintain ongoing communication with staff coders
  • Maintain the confidentiality and privacy of all patient information
  • Work on and accrue continuous professional educational credits as required by CHIMA
