Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Student Success Coach plays an essential role to students as they pursue their educational journey with SDI. The Student Success Coach assists students in developing skills, behaviors and habits that contribute to success in college. These include academic and career goal setting, learning strategies, time management and organization, self-regulation, and self-accountability. The Student Success Coach will guide students on basic information regarding Admissions, Registration and Financial Aid.

Responsibilities:

  • Fosters persistence and completion by maintaining a caseload of first time in college and/or transfer of students.
  • Monitors progress of students in caseload with check-ins, scheduled meetings or proactive outreach and communication, responding to students’ questions, concerns and needs
  • Conducts academic coaching through individual or group sessions that help students assess their own performance and develop academic success plans
  • Assists students in navigating online classes, developing self-efficacy by identifying and overcoming obstacles that may be impeding academic success; works with students to learn strong time management and organization skills; motivates students to practice self-regulation and take ownership of their academic success
  • Helps students in identifying, developing, and implementing learning strategies and study skills specific to course materials
  • Refers students to appropriate academic personnel and support resources and collaborates with others to monitor and accelerate the academic progress of the students referred
  • Performs duties that are unique to specific department or college
  • Directly supports an assigned group of students from enrollment through graduation
  • Provides individualized support to students based on identified risk factors including academic, socio-emotional, and other potential issues, and helps to develop individual plans for success
  • Counsels and advises students by phone, email, text and other available online technologies
  • Closely monitors student attendance and grades in database to assure retention and progression
  • Consistent ability to meet and/or exceed department expectations and compliance requirements
  • Provides students with accurate, complete and timely information on school policies and procedures
  • Responds timely, professionally, and accurately to student inquiries
  • Documents student interactions in appropriate systems accurately and in a timely manner
  • Coordinates and attends Student Success events
  • Develops meaningful relationships across a diverse population of students to facilitate student success
  • Assists returning students with re-entry
  • Other duties or tasks as assigned
