Description:

Job description
Directorate - Finance & Customer Services
37 hours per week, Temporary fixed term until 31st March 2026
We are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to support the Council’s commercial decarbonisation journey.
Reporting to the Principal Decarbonisation Officer, this is one of several key roles tasked with delivering Rotherham Council’s ambitious climate change targets to reach net zero by 2030 through the implementation of corporate energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects.
In this critical role you will identify and implement technical property related decarbonisation projects and monitor, analyse and report upon energy management system data to identify opportunities for improvement.
We are therefore looking for a candidate with excellent technical, communication and project management skills to deliver the Council’s net zero targets throughout its operational estate and to develop relationships with core Council services and stakeholders.
We offer a great work life balance including flexible working as well as the option to work alongside a team willing to challenge the norm to deliver a better outcome. This temporary post will be based at Riverside House but includes the ability to work at home for several days of the month. Travel across the Borough to events/meetings and occasional out of hours working will also be required.
For further information regarding this role please do not hesitate to contact the Climate Change Manager, Louise Preston on 07717423494 or via e-mail: louise.preston@rotherham.gov.uk
This post will have access to the Public Services Network, if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at the Basic level (unspent criminal convictions).
Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion among our workforce, and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative of all sections of society and our customers, and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. As a Disability Confident employer, we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants that meet the minimum criteria for this position will be offered an interview. For further information, please visit our website.
Until 31st March 2026 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded three additional days leave (pro rata for part-time).
