Description:

DELIVERING GOOD ENERGY STARTS FROM WITHIN

It’s an exciting time to join Origin. Creating a great place to work means together we’re progressing our ambition to lead the energy transition through cleaner energy and customer solutions. We’re always looking for better ways to deliver for our customers – and for our people.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE:

Origin is leading the transition to net zero through clean energy and customer solutions. Gas forms an essential part of the energy mix during the transition and Origin, via the Integrated Gas BU, is continuing to invest in gas exploration and production throughout Australia. The Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) business is a large scale, world-class CSG to LNG production business where Origin is the upstream operator and domestic gas marketing agent.
The Non-Operated JV and Business Development team is responsible for driving the value and performance of the APLNG business by safely optimizing production and lowering the cost of supply in APLNG’s non-operated joint ventures, and identifying, prioritising and delivering value improvement opportunities across the entire APLNG portfolio.
The Commercial Lead - Business Development provides business development and value delivery expertise and is responsible for developing asset strategy, leading multi-disciplinary commercial projects, and influencing key business stakeholders.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  • Identify and prioritise asset based value opportunities of strategic benefit to the APLNG portfolio by leveraging multi-disciplinary, cross-organizational capability.
  • Manage transaction execution (including asset acquisitions and divestments, tenure acquisitions, establishing new joint venture arrangements, and securing access arrangements to key infrastructure) across the APLNG portfolio.
  • Integrate and synthesise complex and multi-disciplinary perspectives into commercial analysis and decision making.
  • Analyse potential counterparty primary and fallback negotiating positions using market intelligence and other information sources.
  • Anticipate opportunities and risks over the medium-long term. Develop and implement plans to harness opportunities and manage risks.
  • Develop and maintain an extensive network of industry contacts and knowledge to support high-quality strategy development, implementation, and execution.
  • Influence and manage key stakeholders to achieve preferred business outcomes.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO THE ROLE?

The successful candidate will have deep experience in commercial value delivery and negotiating and managing complex commercial arrangements. You are forward thinking, proactive and can easily adapt to changing priorities and work requirements.

You will also have:

  • Leading strategic thinking – ability to see the big picture and clearly communicate it to others
  • Ability to evaluate situations involving incomplete and/or conflicting information, reach sound conclusions, and make and implement decisions accordingly
  • Confident in the face of complexity, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders to drive positive strategic outcomes
  • Degree qualification in Engineering, Geology, Law, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline
