The ANZ Commercial Leader Microbiology (MBD) is a pivotal commercial role that drives a large microbiology portfolio with key customers. It leads the Sales Product Specialist and Product Management Teams to strategically develop the portfolios and customer segments to achieve their financial targets and drive a positive customer experience.

Keys to Success:

  • Focus the organisation on delighting customers and delivering on the wider Thermo Fisher value proposition. Establish relationships with customers across the region with regular sales calls and a strategic partnership approach.
  • Work across the organization and with MBD and other divisional leadership in developing and implementing a strategy that leads to increased customer value creation and market share gain.
  • Develop Business, Market and Product Strategies that assess both the market and competitor landscape. Incorporate effective commercial strategies and initiatives that enable the business to take market share, grow revenues, introduce new products into new segments and exceed annual targets.
  • Develop business opportunities that deliver innovative customer focussed solutions and build customer intimacy in strategic areas. Support these opportunities with sound commercial business partnership proposals, tender submissions that support a clear mutually agreed growth agenda. Lead these opportunities across all business functions to mutually agreed project goals and objectives with collaboration and communication.
  • Strategic leadership of the Product Specialist and Product Management team in selling and handling their assigned portfolios, drive the use of robust territory / portfolio plans to drive the success of each team member.
  • Responsible for motivating the team to achieve financial goals quarterly and annually. Reporting regularly on forecast and sales relative to the plan with variance analysis, able to review at a division reporting level to provide division insights into the region. Developing and completing corrective actions to close any gaps to expectations.
  • Organisational design, recruitment, training, coaching, setting of performance objectives that align to the overall strategy. Mentor and develop the team, build career plans and plans for succession.
  • Collaborate and connect with customer marketing and digital teams to implement through the line demand generation activities and programs.
  • Show initiative to develop programs to drive growth in any economic condition.
  • Spending considerable of the time on “the road” balanced with the time in the office. Expectation of ~30% travel.
  • Ensure 100% compliance on corporate ethics training and PMD completion.

EDUCATION

A Bachelor’s degree in Science.

EXPERIENCE

8+ years of relevant, industry-specific experience, preferably in a scientific organisation, experience with microbiology
Strong sales management experience and leadership abilities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Leadership, experience in developing high performing commercial teams, outstanding ability to motivate and engage employees.
  • Customer Relationship Builder. ability to think and implement from a customer-centric perspective as well as build and cultivate strong customer relationships.
  • Communication, excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Project Management, sound project management and analytical skills, able to align partners around a common goal and work through obstacles.
