POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Commercial Services Manager oversees and manages the Commercial Services department in the provision of commercial products sales and services to members including account portfolio management, growth, development, product pricing and customer relationships. The incumbent also monitors staff adherence to all policies, procedures, controls, statutory regulations, and risk management standards, and oversees the commercial delinquency program.
The position further supervises and provides daily direction to direct reports to ensure the provision of quality member relationship banking services, maximize revenue generation and promote growth. Manages a limited portfolio for selected commercial members. You will also apply StellerVista’s Performance Excellence Plan to manage, motivate and enhance team performance. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the income, expense, FTE, and growth budgets for Commercial Services, and provides input into annual operating and capital budget targets. You will participate as an active member of the credit union operations management team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of a degree or diploma in business administration
  • 10 years of related lending experience in a financial institution, 7 of which have been in a commercial lending position with progressive exposure to diverse and increasingly complex commercial accounts, and 2 of which have been in supervisory or management positions
    OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven ability to successfully lead individuals and teams within a sales and service environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including mentoring, motivating, and coaching
  • Knowledge of complex commercial and consumer lending policies, procedures, techniques, rates, documentation requirements and legal processes
  • Knowledge of all basic and specialized credit union deposit and lending products and services
  • Knowledge of banking related computer applications and enterprise software including BC Online, credit bureau, Excel, and Word
  • Knowledge of Relationship Management tools and related cross selling / qualified referral techniques
  • Knowledge of commercial collection processes
  • Knowledge of credit union operations and policies including risk management, security, and safeguarding precautions
  • Proven skills in business development and achievement of sales goals and targets
  • Knowledge of the Collective Agreement and experience leading in a unionized environment
  • Working knowledge of credit union legislation, policies, and procedures as they relate to the position
