Salary Range: $48.00-$60.00/hour
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Reporting to the Director, Entrepreneurship, the Commercialization Specialist is responsible for piloting commercialization services for Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre (HBEC) clients, with a focus on Intellectual Property (IP) education and client advising. The position will seek to standardize services in a clear and transparent manner that is timely and as friction-free as possible. Tracking success, outcomes, and metrics will be key factor in evaluating the effectiveness of the pilot. The successful candidate will work with HBEC clients that have businesses and IP with high potential for growth and commercialization. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
IP AND COMMERCIALIZATION EDUCATION:
- Develops and delivers workshops and learning sessions related to IP and commercialization
- Engages and oversees subject matter expertise for developing and delivering IP and commercialization-related learning
- Promotes educational programming to the Georgian College, Lakehead University, and regional communities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successfully completed a Master’s Degree program in Legal, Technology or Business or a related field.
- Formal training in IP management, or similar business studies would be considered an asset.
- Minimum seven years of experience in a similar position or in functions such as, but not limited to, research and development, strategy, design, and/or production.
- Previous experience in research and development setting, is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in advising and collaborating with business partners.
- Experience coordinating and managing multiple stakeholders working on a project.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to cultivate partnerships and foster strong relationships within diverse communities.
- Intermediate level computer skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
