Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Commis I is an entry-level position in the culinary hierarchy of a professional kitchen. This role typically involves assisting with food preparation, cooking, and cleaning tasks under the supervision of a senior chef. As a Commis I, the individual in this role will have the opportunity to learn and develop their culinary skills, with the goal of eventually progressing to more senior positions within the kitchen hierarchy.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Assist in creating and preparing menus items and specials.
  • Work closely with standard recipes and plate presentations in order to maintain standards of quality in production and presentation.
  • Handle and report any accident immediately, no matter how minor.
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen.
  • Ensuring that all equipment and utensils are properly cleaned and stored.
  • Following all health and safety protocols in the kitchen
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the culinary team to ensure smooth and efficient service
