As a proven leader in Renewable Energy, Ameresco is dedicated to expanding its portfolio of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) processing plants. We are looking to fill the role of Commissioning Manager to lead a multi-disciplined commissioning team responsible for bringing new Renewable Energy Assets online. This is a remote position, requiring travel to project sites for commissioning activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage onsite commissioning efforts with a focus on mechanical systems and piping by overseeing the multi-disciplined onsite commissioning team comprised of commissioning engineers and technicians.
  • Assist with the development and of standardized procedures for asset commissioning. Tailor the standard commissioning procedures to each specific project site and develop project specific commissioning documentation to be included in the turnover package to operations.
  • Perform walkdowns of the site with contractors and Ameresco construction management personnel to plan and define turnover schedules for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Work with the Engineering team to develop a documented purge plan for all process piping, vessels, and skids. This documentation will be used during commissioning to ensure that all systems are purged of oxygen prior to operation.
  • Organize and assemble the documentation turnover package including commissioning documentation, pressure test documentation, O&M manuals, etc.
  • Maintain Ameresco’s strong safety culture during plant commissioning. Ensure all commissioning team members and outside contractors understand site safety protocols to include the use of PPE, LOTO practices, hot work permitting, safe work habits, etc.
  • Witness/Execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for control panels, skid-based equipment, and other project assets at the vendor shop. Develop a detailed list of deficiencies for the vendor to act upon. Work with process engineering to develop pressure testing plans and witness pressure testing of skid piping and pressure vessels.
  • Be the single point of contact for the site during the commissioning phase of the project. Lead daily meetings and drive the daily priorities and schedule and provide regular progress reports to the Engineering team and other key team members.
  • Provide technical support for equipment troubleshooting. Procure outside resources as required to troubleshoot and repair equipment. Use developed mechanical engineering skills to rectify problems that occur with blowers, compressors, valves, heat exchangers, process chillers, and gas sampling systems.
  • Maintain a commissioning punch list to ensure that all irregularities and issues get assigned priority, resources, and action plans. Assign punch list items to team members, matching skill sets with the tasks.
  • Procure necessary parts, tools, and equipment needed to perform commissioning activities; and ensure that team members are properly trained to safely use the equipment.
  • Administer the plant performance testing procedures to verify that all plant equipment and processes are functioning according to their promised performance criteria. Notify equipment vendors and Ameresco team of performance test pass/fail status; and engage resources as required to develop a path toward correcting any failures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of commissioning and utility grade infrastructure projects and/or renewable energy projects, specifically Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) processing plants

Additional Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and foster positive business relationships.
  • Strong verbal, written, computer, technical communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time; the amount of travel will vary based on the number of projects being commissioned each year and is expected to be around 50%.
  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing, issued by state of residence.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite of Tools including MS Word, Excel, Project
  • Multi-tasking ability.
  • Excellent communication, meeting, and presentation skills.
