Calling communications and engagement professionals! With a strong pipeline of work, we are looking for a talented, curious, and committed Communications and Engagement Consultant to join our growing ANZ Engagement and Social Planning Section. We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a team, is great at translating complex technical information, and confident engaging with stakeholders and the community.
Our ANZ Engagement and Social Planning Section partners with our clients and the broader Jacobs business to design, deliver and evaluate communications and engagement approaches for major infrastructure projects. We help our clients solve their most complex challenges in ways which consider stakeholder and community impacts, and seeks to deliver positive environmental outcomes. We collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across a range of markets including water, defence, energy, power and transport.
The successful applicant will be embedded in Confluence Water, a Joint Venture between Jacobs, Downer and Ventia, engaged to deliver services under the Sydney Water Partnering for Success (P4S) Program. This role is primarily based at Chatswood, and requires frequent travel to our project sites, depots and assets around Sydney’s north and north-west, with opportunities for flexible/remote working.

You will:

  • Live Sydney Water and Confluence Water’s shared values and ensure the ‘customer is at the heart’ as we deliver our work program.
  • Support the Confluence Water and Sydney Water teams in designing, constructing and maintaining water and wastewater (and some recycled water and stormwater) services across our region.
  • Develop and implement community engagement plans to engage stakeholders, communities and customers.
  • Work on multiple projects across various workstreams with multi-disciplinary project teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture and participate in continual improvement.
  • Develop your consultancy and project management skills, in line with Jacobs Global Career Framework.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Community and stakeholder engagement experience, ideally with training in or an understanding of IAP2 (International Association of Public Participation) principles.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, sustainability, environmental science / management, urban planning, engineering or other social science disciplines.
  • Previous experience in infrastructure projects, preferably in the utilities sector.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and high levels of emotional intelligence and empathy.
  • Strong organisational, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • A ‘can do’ attitude with an interest in continuous learning and improvement.
  • 4 years relevant experience.
