About the role
The Centre is looking for a Communications and Engagement Officer from April 2024 to provide administrative, communications, and impact and engagement support for its diverse programme of activities. They will promote the work of CSB both internally and externally, responsible for creating digital communications – written, visual and recorded, administrating the day-to-day news flow on our website and social media platforms, and maximising our opportunities to engage with a variety of audiences.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in a communications role, have good design and communications skills including excellent writing skills, and will understand the research and stakeholder environment in which the Centre operates.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 2 years
The post will run from 1st April 2024 until 31st March 2026
This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent
Key responsibilities
Communications & Engagement:
Working with the CSB team to develop and manage a series of online and offline impact activities to create, engage and excite a community of researchers, businesses, and policy makers interested in socially and environmentally sustainable business practices.
Work with researchers to develop and implement communications plans for specific research projects.
Raising the profile of the Centre and of associated engagement and impact activities through mailing lists, website, and social media activities
Maintain and update the CSB website. Manage the relationship with the third-party web developer.
Prepare and publish written, visual and audio content for CSB’s digital platforms, such as website and social media channels.
Liaise with external partners and Centre stakeholders.
Collate information for KPIs about website usage and our digital audiences.
Develop relationship and work closely with cross-faculty communications teams.
Support the production and dissemination of CSB publications, including research papers, and other reports.
Event
Support the delivery of conferences and smaller workshops through liaising with the KCL IT team, academics, and participants, processing expenses, travel arrangements, on-the-day support, catering, room bookings, and evaluation.
Promote CSB events through all channels.
Organise interviews with speakers at key CSB events.
Compile and edit outputs from events and publish online (slides, videos, blogs).
Promote CSB Research Associates’ attendance at other events.
General Responsibilities
Management of the Centre inbox.
Management of the Centre CRM database.
Cover for other Centre staff as necessary as requested by the Centre Manager.
Being proactive in reviewing and evaluating own performance and identifying and acting upon areas for improvement and development.
Attending and participating in Centre and Business School meetings and other meetings as required.

Skills, knowledge, and experience
Essential criteria
1. Educated to degree level or equivalent and experience of working in a communications role.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills, warm, professional and confident manner, with an ability to liaise effectively with all levels of staff and to work independently and as part of a team.
4. Strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks with meticulous attention to detail and drive work forward to completion.
5. Excellent digital content creation skills for web and social media.
6. Able to think creatively with originality and insight.
7. Excellent IT skills.
8. Able to work occasional evenings and weekends as required for the delivery of events.
Desirable criteria
1. Sound knowledge of WordPress, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, video and podcast editing suites and platforms such as Mailchimp, Eventbrite and Zoom.
2. Experience working in Higher Education, research, academic, or other non-profit sectors.
